There are communities of adaptive riders in New Zealand who love to share their experiences and knowledge. We've collated a number of them.

First and foremost, for those looking to head out on a trail it's important to check out the range of adaptive bikes now available.

There are trikes, wheelchair bikes, reclining bikes, hand cycles, bikes with trailers, tandems and adaptive mountain bikes.

Choosing the right bike depends on your need, so talk with your local bike shop and adaptive riding group for advice and recommendations.

Some cycle trail operators also hire adaptive bikes.

Or you can rent or hire trikes from Ride Your Trike NZ. Ride Your Trike NZ is dedicated to making cycling accessible for everyone, especially those who find traditional two-wheel bikes challenging. It specialises in selling and renting adaptive bikes and trikes, adaptive cycling products, e-bikes and car bike racks.
