My Christmas surprise for my hubby was a trip on the Wilderness Trail – unfortunately we ended up only having one day as he had to return to work but what we got to experience was just fantastic. The scenery is so amazing and this photo taken at the boardwalk between Kumara and Kawhaka intake shows just a portion of the many changes in scenery in only 20km of the 132km ride.

I only wish I could add more photos as we enjoyed picturesque native bush, Kapitea reservoir with holidaymakers enjoying their break and our picnic together in the peaceful surroundings of the Intake before our return ride. We can't wait till we can continue exploring more of this truly awesome natural bike ride in our beautiful country.
