Getting outdoors is easy if you know how…

Get Outdoors Week 16–24 November, is all about exploring New Zealand’s great outdoors safely and easily. If you’ve always wanted to give it a go but don’t know where to start, then this week is for you!

There are over 50 events throughout the country, from bird-spotting night walks and forest creature hunts to family-friendly rides and an epic mountain bike race.

Be in to win daily prizes by tagging #GOWeekNZ #MakeItHomeNZ and @getoutdoorsweek on Instagram and Facebook.

Check out these two awesome events on our Great Rides.

Ride the Wilderness, Saturday 16 November. This mountain bike ride on the West Coast Wilderness Trail is split into four events ranging from a 21km ‘cruise’ from Kumara to Greymouth to the 126km ‘epic’ along the whole trail.

This is a Grade 2 (easy) ride taking in beautiful lakes, rivers, creeks, boardwalks, singletrack, forest, wetlands and water races. There’s something for everyone. You can ride solo or get a team together. It’s not too late to enter!

Cycle & Celebrate, Sunday 24 November. This 15km off-road ride follows the super-scenic Around the Mountains Cycle Trail from Five Rivers to Lumsden.

Take your time in the ‘social’ category or pedal your socks off in the timed ‘competitive’ race. Speedsters, slow-pokes and non-riders all get to enjoy the market stalls, food, music and entertainment at the finish line in Lumsden.
